MEASURE WITH CONFIDENCE
How to Measure for Impact Windows and Accordion Shutters
Open each section for the measurement method that matches your opening.
Record every measurement in inches. Always measure the width first and the height second.
Write each measurement as:
Width × Height
Impact windows and doors are quoted as individual units, so measure each unit separately.
How to Measure for Your Quote
Use inches for every measurement. Always enter the width first, followed by the height.
Width × Height
Measuring for Impact Windows and Doors
Measure each window or door as a separate unit. Include the entire frame in your measurement, not just the visible glass.
Measuring for Accordion Shutters
Accordion shutters can cover a complete opening with one shutter assembly. Measure from the inside edge of the left jamb to the inside edge of the right jamb, then from the bottom of the opening to the top.
Measuring Combined Openings
The basic rule is simple:
- For impact windows and doors, measure each unit separately.
- For accordion shutters, measure the complete area one shutter assembly will cover.
Windows With an Arch
For impact windows, measure the lower window and arch separately. For accordion shutters, measure them together as one opening.
Side-by-Side Windows
For impact windows, measure each window separately and include its frame. For accordion shutters, measure the full opening from side to side and top to bottom.
Sliding-Glass Doors With a Transom
For impact products, measure the door and transom separately, even when there is no wall between them. For accordion shutters, measure the door and transom together.
The same accordion-shutter method applies when sections are divided by a concrete wall or mull, as long as one shutter assembly will cover the complete opening.
These measurements are for quoting purposes only. Final sizes and mounting requirements must be verified by the installer. If we have access to the property, we can take the measurements and prepare an exact estimate for you.
